SONG SPOTLIGHT: PARADISE BY MICKEY FACTZ

by petercortle | August 19, 2010

Brooklyn MC Mickey Factz has been on the come-up for a while now. With the major-label release of his “Paradise” video—and an impressive half a million plays in three days—it looks like the articulate rhymespitter may finally be getting his dues.

The video itself is nothing groundbreaking. Factz sits back in his NYC ‘hood, spitting his game over an intense electronic beat. The perfunctory shots of his homies looking tough on bikes and cars are there, as are the flashing shots of his housing project. Nonetheless, the beat is a banger, sounding like parts of it were lifted from some European house instrumental, and Factz is a fresh spitter indeed. He also seems committed to rapping the real, which we respect. We hope to see much more of Factz on some big-name collabs in the next few months, but for now, we’ll take a slice of his “Paradise.”
