Once again, LWR presents us with SPOTLIGHT. – peterCORTLE
You know what’s 100% over? People saying hip-hop is dead. I’m not the first one to say this, but let me just put my stamp on it—the genre might’ve gone through a dry period, say, from 2002 to 2007, but since then it has been taking unexpected twists and turns that defy all mainstream, corporate power and cultural norms. That’s art, man. And that’s what Stalley represents.
Some dudes you can pass on the street and know they’re some kind of rapper or baller – either by the reams of jewelry hanging off them, the ink-blotted skin, or that swag they keep talking about. Stalley isn’t tatted or chained up. He’s got swag. He’s got a heck of a beard. And he’s got lyrics to go.
Did I mention he’s a former Division I basketball player? That’s right, a real baller. By hooking up with track gurus like Ski Beatz and being co-signed by the mogul himself, Dame Dash, Stalley has gotten crazy hype already for his unique style and step. With crazy videos like the one above—the Ski-assisted S.T.A.L.L.E.Y.—it’s clear this Ohio native got a team that’s gonna ride and some dreams that are gonna fly. Check out his music video, take a look through his body of work, and start reppin’ that beard.
