LAST CALL AT THE OASIS

LAST CALL AT THE OASIS

by AUDrey | March 17, 2012

Last Call at the Oasis, a new documentary exposing the world’s growing water crisis, looks at clean water as the precious resource that it is. Clean water not only impacts global health issues (water related illness like malaria, dehydration, and diarrhea kill millions of people each year), it is required to sustain life outside of the individual and in the community.

Last Call at the Oasis exposes “defects in the current system, shows communities already struggling with its ill-effects and highlights individuals championing revolutionary solutions.” But instead of being negative about the issue the film declares that if we act now, we can manage this problem.

This documentary, made by Participant Media (An Inconvenient TruthFood IncThe Cove), is using digital media to make social change. The company will release a still-unnamed iOS app, which shows how much water is associated with different actions in your daily life. In addition, if you text “WATER” to 77177 you’ll receive updates on how to take action. The site also has a nice list of ten ways you can reduce your water impact.

Last Call at the Oasis will be released May 4 and was screened twice at South by Southwest last week. Check out the trailer and get more information here: http://www.takepart.com/lastcall
